Unfortunately, there are always some people who try to cheat others out of their money. Often, the scams they run make it sound like you can get rich overnight. Be wary of anything that sounds too good to be true; most often, becoming rich and famous is the result of years of hard work.

Hopefully, you won't have the bad experience of being robbed or defrauded. John tells a co-worker about the expressions he heard on TV.
Have you ever been robbed?
What can be said about robbery/ fraud?
In the U.S. and Canada, many people have been fooled by many different get-rich schemes. Some have lost their life savings in the process! It's always a good idea to investigate thoroughly before committing any of your hard-earned money to anything.
What: All about getting money the wrong way
Who: Have you been robbed or cheated?
Where: Anywhere there are thieves
When: You're in a discussion about crooks
Why: It can happen to anyone, so be careful
At work the next day, John is anxious to tell a co-worker about the latest episode of 'Cops'. This one was all about robbery and fraud. There are some pretty dishonest people out there!
John: How's the coffee, Dan?
Dan: Not so bad, this morning.
John: Guess I'll take a chance. So, how's the Dryden project going?
Dan: Real well. We should be finished in a couple of weeks.
John: Good stuff. Say, did you watch 'Cops' last night?
Dan: No, I was watching the football game.
John: It was a very interesting episode, all about robbery and fraud. One couple's house was really cleaned out, and in another case, muggers took every last dime from an old lady.
Dan: What's the world coming to, I wonder.
John: They also showed a number of examples of fraud. On the East coast, one group defrauded hundreds of people. The scam they were running left many people penniless. And they showed how governments wage a constant war against counterfeiting. Not to mention how a computer expert defrauded a bank of $200,000.
Dan: Some people will go to any extreme to get more money. You really dig that program, don't you?
John: Wouldn't miss it for the world. Well, see you later, Dan. I have to go.
